ADOPTION PROFILE BOOKS →

The Book That Gets You Chosen. Faster.

Your adoption profile is more than a beautiful book. It's your family's first introduction to an expectant mother who may be looking for someone exactly like you.

The right stories, the right photographs, and the details that make your family unmistakably yours can turn a book she looks through into a family she remembers.

Because it's not just about being chosen. It's about being chosen for who you really are, and giving that connection every opportunity to happen sooner.

17 years as an adoption consultant. Hundreds of families interviewed. One process built to help you match sooner, with the right family for your child.

Yay!!! ✦ I just looked and I love it! ✦ Such a huge blessing ✦ IT'S ALL HAPPENING!!!!! ✦ You made this so easy ✦

WHY SPEED AND AUTHENTICITY ARE THE SAME THING →

It's not just about being chosen. It's about being chosen correctly, and quickly.

A generic profile book can still get looked at. It rarely gets remembered. Expectant mothers reviewing dozens of books are looking for a reason to stop turning pages, and a story that could describe almost any family gives her nothing to stop on.

When a book is built around what's actually true and specific about a family, two things happen at once. Expectant mothers respond faster, because something in the book gave them a real reason to reach out. And the match that follows tends to be a truer fit, because she chose you for who you are, not for a version of you designed to appeal to everyone.

That combination, speed and authenticity, isn't a coincidence. It's what happens when a book is built correctly from the start instead of patched together and hoped for. The upfront work of finding your real story is what saves months on the back end.

THE PROBLEM →

Here's what nobody tells you before you build your own adoption profile book.

You will not run out of pictures.

You will run out of judgment about which ones matter.

You will not run out of things to

 say about yourselves.

You will bury the one thing that actually matters under twelve things that don't.

This isn't a design problem. Canva can make anything look clean. The problem is that you're too close to your own story to see what's remarkable about it. You've lived it. It feels normal to you. So the detail that would make an expectant mother feel something, the small true thing that says exactly who you are, gets left out because it didn't occur to you that it mattered.

That's not a flaw in you. It's just what happens when you try to be the subject and the storyteller at the same time. It can't be done alone. It was never supposed to be done alone.

THE METHOD →

What actually happens before I design your adoption profile book.

Before any design work starts, we talk. Not a questionnaire you fill out at midnight. An actual conversation, an hour to an hour and a half, where I ask questions most families have never been asked about themselves.

I'm not collecting facts for a bio page. I'm listening for the thing you'd almost leave out. The story you'd call "not a big deal." The detail you'd cut because you didn't think anyone would care. In seventeen years of doing this, that's almost always the exact thing an expectant mother remembers.

By the end of that conversation, I know what makes your family different from the hundreds of other profile books an expectant mother will look through. Not different in a marketing way. Different in a true way. Then, and only then, do I tell you what to gather: which stories to write down, which photos to look for, what your photographer needs to capture that you'd never think to ask for on your own.

You don't design your book with me sitting next to you. You live your life, gather what I ask for, and send it to me. I build the book around the thing we found in that conversation. That's the whole method. It's simple to describe and it is very hard to do without seventeen years of knowing what to listen for.

PICTURE SELECTION →

The picture you want to use is usually not the picture that should be used.

Families almost always want to cut their best photo because of something small. An arm looks heavy. Someone's hair is a mess. The lighting isn't perfect.

I will fight you on this. Gently, but I will fight you.

An expectant mother is not evaluating your photography. She's looking for a real smile, a real hand on a real shoulder, a look between two people that tells her something true about how you love each other. That photo where your arm looks "chubby" might be the one where your daughter is laughing so hard she can't breathe, and that's the photo that gets you chosen. Picking the right pictures is a skill, and it's one most families, and most designers, don't have.

MY POINT OF VIEW →

Why I don't run your book past a panel of expectant mothers.

Some companies will tell you their profile books are tested and approved by former expectant mothers before you ever see them. It sounds like credibility. It isn't.

That's one person's taste. One woman's preferences about color, layout, and tone, applied to every family that comes through the door. It quietly reshapes every book to please a single point of view, and it pulls families away from being authentically themselves and toward being what one person says expectant mothers like.

You are not trying to appeal to every expectant mother. You are trying to be so clearly and honestly yourselves that the right expectant mother, the one who is meant to choose your family, recognizes something in you and knows. That only happens when your book is actually true to who you are, not filtered through someone else's opinion of what works.

HOW IT WORKS →

How the adoption profile book process works.

1
We talk.

An hour to an hour and a half, one on one with me. This is where we find what makes your family stand out.

2
I give you your list.

Specific stories to gather, specific photos to look for, and guidance for your photographer if you're doing a professional shoot.

3
You send me what we gathered.

You'll get a clear deadline for turning in your stories and photos. Good deadlines aren't a burden here. They're the thing standing between you and a finished book, and a finished book is what starts the clock toward matching.

4
I build your book.

Design, editing, and photo selection, built around the thing we uncovered in your interview.

5
You review, we refine, you're done.

You'll see drafts and have the chance to adjust before anything is final.

PRICING →

Investment

Adopt Book profile books range from $1,000 to $1,500, depending on the scope of your project. This covers the interview, editing, design, and photo selection. Printing and a professional photo shoot are arranged separately, and Shannon will point you toward what to look for when the time comes.

This isn't the cheapest profile book you can buy. It's built to shorten your wait, not just improve your pages.

ABOUT →

The person doing your interview

I'm Shannon. I've worked as an adoption consultant for 17 years, and before that I spent time as a professional actress and a story editor in Hollywood, which is a strange combination until you realize both jobs taught me the same thing: how to find the true story inside someone's life and make it land.
